The JUFC Committee would like to reinforce our position regarding the 2020 season.
Firstly thank you to our members for their patience as we work with Football Brisbane and all clubs in our zone, and we remain united in our commitment to provide a season of football. We appreciate that everyone is itching to get back on the park, and we hope and pray that we get there sooner rather than later. We find ourselves in a difficult and unprecedented position with the current COVID 19 situation and the subsequent postponement of the season. As it stands now we have been given a provisional start date of 30th June. As I am sure you can understand, this is a moving target and our governing bodies are monitoring things closely to ensure we have a start to the season which is as timely as possible, but most importantly when it is safe to do so. All clubs are currently meeting with Football Brisbane fortnightly and will provide updates as they become available.
REFUNDS We have started to be asked by a few members about the refunding of fees. Football Brisbane is still planning to deliver a 2020 season and are working hard to do so. As such they have advised that at the moment refunds are not on the agenda. The clubs are still being invoiced as per their fee schedule for all active players. Should we get to the point where the season is no longer viable and is abandoned, then there will be a refund program put in place, balanced against operational costs incurred by the club. There will also then be an option offered to leave the fees banked with the club for the 2021 season. The exact details of this will be confirmed if and when we reach that point, although we are hopeful that it won’t come to that.
Please be mindful that the end goal here is to A) get back on the park doing what we and our kids love and B) be left with a financially viable club at the other end of all this so we can all enjoy the greatest sport of all for many years to come. The committee is working hard to ensure we achieve this and we thank you for your support and patience through this difficult time. When messaging the club please keep in mind that the committee are all volunteers going through the same battles as everyone else at the moment so you may not get a response as timely as you would like.
In the mean time we hope everyone stays safe and well, and don’t forget to practice your ball skills in the back yard! ...
We hope everyone is staying safe and well through these trying times.
This afternoon we received an update from Football Brisbane where they have put back the potential start date of our season, as per the attached memo to all clubs.
Football Brisbane remains in regular contact with all clubs via fortnightly meetings and have been fantastic with their communication through this difficult situation. We will continue to update our members via our Facebook page as we receive information. Please note that all group activity at Kurrajong Park is still off limits as per the latest government regulations. ...
